Maine Coon Health Contract/Guarantee
Updated 5/6/2025 – Backed by a Two-Year Health Guarantee
At Wild Looking Maine Coon Cattery, we believe that bringing home a Maine Coon kitten should be a joyful, confident experience rooted in trust and transparency. Our two-year Health Contract and Guarantee is more than a contract—it’s our heartfelt commitment to the lifelong well-being of your new feline family member.
Our story begins with love, love for the Maine Coon breed and a passion for ensuring every kitten we raise thrives in mind, body, and spirit. When you choose Wild Looking Maine Coon Cattery, you’re choosing a breeder that prioritizes Maine Coon health from the very first breath. We guide every step with compassion, integrity, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of these majestic cats.
As a buyer, you’re stepping into the role of guardian and advocate. We ask that you commit to nurturing your Maine Coon in a clean, loving indoor environment with quality nutrition, regular vet visits, and lots of affection. Whether your cat explores the outdoors on a leash or enjoys the sun from a catio, your watchful eye is key to ensuring ongoing Maine Coon health and safety.
Our kittens are placed as pets, not breeders. For their safety and yours, males must be neutered by 9 months and females spayed by 6 months to prevent health risks like pyometra. Protecting Maine Coon health includes making safe anesthesia choices, we strongly recommend gas-only anesthesia (sevoflurane or isoflurane), as injectable drugs like ketamine have been linked to serious complications in cats. Your kitten’s well-being during surgery matters, be their voice.
First Five Days After Pick-Up: We guarantee your kitten is in sound health upon pick-up or delivery. To ensure full coverage, a licensed vet must examine your Maine Coon within five business days. While minor adjustments are expected, any untreatable or life-threatening issues must be documented and reported to us within 24 hours. In such rare cases, we offer a replacement kitten of equal value within 12 months, or the first available—ensuring your peace of mind.
Two-Year Genetic Health Contract and Guarantee: Our commitment to Maine Coon health extends well beyond the first week. Should a kitten develop a life-threatening genetic condition within 24 months, we’ll replace the kitten (pending veterinary necropsy and records). As responsible breeders, we also require access to vet records so we can understand and improve with each generation.
Your kitten comes vaccinated with the essential core vaccines (Panleukopenia, Viral Rhinotracheitis, and Calicivirus). While optional vaccines are up to you and your vet, we emphasize that any adverse vaccine reactions are not covered under our Maine Coon health policy. Transparency is our priority—your informed decisions help support your kitten’s long-term vitality.
While rare, Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is now treatable. We’ve never had a case develop after pick-up, but we urge every owner to know the signs and consult a vet promptly. Proactive care is a cornerstone of Maine Coon health.
We ask that every buyer agree to never sell, surrender, or abandon a Wild Looking Maine Coon Cattery. If life circumstances change, we retain the right of first refusal. Your kitten’s health and happiness remain our shared responsibility—no matter the chapter.
We do not support declawing. It jeopardizes Maine Coon health due to their size and structure, and will void your kitten’s health guarantee. These gentle giants need their claws for balance, play, and stress relief.
Maine Coons are known for their robust health, but that’s only possible with proper care. Provide fresh water at all times, maintain a nutritious diet, and avoid unnecessary dietary changes during the first few months at home. Play, companionship, and love are just as vital for emotional health as food is for physical well-being.
Every Wild Looking Maine Coon Cattery represents our heart, our home, and our promise to you. We are proud to raise kittens with integrity, rooted in genetics, love, and the highest standards of Maine Coon health. We reserve the right to place our cats only in homes that reflect our dedication to their lifelong wellness.
An e-signature link will be provided a week prior to pick-up. Thank you for being part of the Wild Looking Maine Coon Cattery family.
